Jose Fernandez's heartbreaking death has left the baseball world in mourning as players, pundits, and fans alike remember one of the game's most beloved stars.

With his infectious personality and trademark smile, Fernandez's legacy promises to endure long after the tragic events of Sunday morning. Among the memorable moments of his awe-inspiring four-year career was his most recent start against the Nationals, an eight-inning masterpiece on Sept. 20 in which the Marlins ace struck out 12 batters, walked none, and won the 38th and final game of his career.

During Sunday's emotional press conference in Miami, teammate Martin Prado told reporters Fernandez said his most recent outing was the best he's ever pitched. Relieve the historic moment above as Fernandez gets Daniel Murphy to ground out before he's embraced by Marlins hitting coach Barry Bonds in a moment that will loom large over the franchise and baseball world.
