Woman sues Brewers 2 years after getting hit by BP ball
A New Jersey woman is suing the Milwaukee Brewers after she was struck in the face by an errant foul ball in batting practice two years ago.
Dana Morelli, 47, alleges she suffered an orbital bone fracture in her left eye, nerve and iris damage, as well as a concussion at Miller Park in 2014, according to the Journal Sentinel's Maggie Angst.
"People should be more protected during batting practice since there is no game to even watch," said Michael Sperling, Morelli's attorney. "Whatever they put up was clearly insufficient to protect my client."
The suit claims that the Brewers violated Wisconsin's "safe place statute." She also claims that some of her injuries are permanent.
In December 2015, MLB recommended that all teams extend their safety netting to 70 feet from home plate to the inner corner of the dugouts, though it wasn't made mandatory.
Morelli was seated in the second row beyond the third-base side.
