David Ortiz has hammered his way past "Hammerin' Hank" himself.

The Boston Red Sox slugger passed a legend and cracked a top-10 list with one swing of the bat Friday, hitting the 625th double of his career against the Kansas City Royals to pass Hank Aaron for 10th all time.

On a full count in the third inning, Ortiz sent a sharp fly ball to right field off Royals starter Ian Kennedy that one-hopped over the wall at Fenway Park just past the foul pole. The ground-rule double now puts Ortiz in sole possession of the 10th spot on the all-time leaderboard and only 18 doubles behind Honus Wagner for ninth.
