Mariners place Storen on DL with shoulder inflammation

MLB.com

The Seattle Mariners have sent reliever Drew Storen to the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to Aug. 20, with inflammation in his right shoulder, the team announced Monday.

After a nightmarish first appearance with Seattle, where he allowed four earned runs, Storen has completely flipped the script with his new club since being acquired from the Toronto Blue Jays in late July.

The right-hander has allowed just one earned run in the nine games since then, a solo home run to Oakland Athletics outfielder Brett Eibner on Aug. 14.

Storen, who finished his stint in Toronto with a 6.21 ERA in 48 appearances, is posting a 4.35 ERA in 10 games with the Mariners.

Outfielder Guillermo Heredia was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma in a corresponding move.
