A-Gon stays hot with 3-homer, 8-RBI outburst

Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Adrian Gonzalez continued his recent tear by hitting three home runs in five at-bats during Monday's slugfest in Cincinnati.

Gonzalez had a pair of three-run homers (during the first and seventh innings), as well as a solo shot in the fifth, with a career-high eight RBIs through eight frames. It's the second career three-homer game for Gonzalez, who went deep three times last April against the Padres.

Gonzalez's third homer extended the Dodgers' lead to 15-7.

The offensive outburst came amid a record seven homers hit by the Dodgers, the most ever by a visiting team at Great American Ball Park. It also marked the first time in team history the Dodgers recorded three separate instances of back-to-back homers, which on Monday included outfielder Andrew Toles and third baseman Rob Segedin going deep for the first time in their careers.

Star rookie Corey Seager also homered for the Dodgers to match a franchise record for long balls by a shortstop with 22.

Gonzalez's big day punctuated a sizzling August for the veteran slugger, who entered Monday's game slashing .368/.411/.603 over 18 games this month.
