As he fielded questions from reporters in the visitor's dugout at Coors Field on Monday afternoon, Troy Tulowitzki, the charmingly stoic Toronto Blue Jays shortstop, admitted he was "excited" to play in front of the fans who had cheered him on for the first decade of his MLB career.

Turns out the fans were excited to see Tulo, too.

Tulowitzki, back in Colorado on Monday for the first time since being unexpectedly shipped to Toronto ahead of the 2015 trade deadline, received a standing ovation as he stepped to the plate for the first time in Monday's series opener against the Rockies, the five-time All-Star acknowledging the crowd with a heartfelt doff of the helmet.
