Earlier this month, Chicago Cubs ace Jake Arrieta was enthralled by the possibility of a Home Run Derby for pitchers, warning reporters that he and his fellow hurlers will "show you we can hit home runs."

On Monday, he certainly showed the Cincinnati Reds.

Arrieta, who smacked the longest homer by a pitcher in 2016 with a 442-foot blast April 10, connected for his second long ball of the campaign during the fifth inning of his club's series opener at Great American Ball Park, smoking an opposite-field blast off reliever Michael Lorenzen.

Arrieta's homer moved him into a first-place tie with San Francisco Giants left-hander Madison Bumgarner for round-trippers by a pitcher this year, too, while giving him four in his last 112 at-bats.
