Minor-league manager goes bonkers in latest tirade

Baseball's new slide rule has been controversial, but who knew it stirred up this much emotion.

Of course, for minor-league manager Joe Mikulik, known more for explosive on-field tirades than actual managing skills, it didn't take much to set him off.

Mikulik, now piloting the Double-A Frisco RoughRiders, was at it again Tuesday after his runner got called out for an illegal slide against the Tulsa Drillers. Displeased with the ruling, he tossed his helmet, got tossed himself, then proceeded to demonstrate his view of a proper slide to the umpires - twice - and punted both second base and his coaching helmet into the outfield.

It's not even the first time Mikulik's caused trouble around second base.

All things considered, this was one of the milder ejections of Mikulik's career. Still, he may want to consider cutting the RoughRiders' new energy drink out of his diet.
