Heading into Wednesday's outing, Chicago White Sox left-hander Carlos Rodon hadn't allowed a home run to a left-handed hitter since making his MLB debut last April.

David Ortiz, the soon-to-be-retired Boston Red Sox icon, had to ruin that.

In the top of the fifth inning at U.S. Cellular Field, Ortiz launched an absolute moonshot off Rodon, giving Boston a 3-2 lead with his sixth homer of 2016 and the 509th of his illustrious career, which moved him into a tie with Gary Sheffield for 25th on the all-time leaderboard.

Ortiz, who added an RBI single in the seventh, is now a dozen homers shy of tying Ted Williams, who is tied for 19th on the all-time list and may be the only Red Sox player more beloved than Big Papi.
