Angels' Choi recalls supernatural experiences with ghosts

Ji-Man Choi doesn't want to stay in Milwaukee's Pfister Hotel any longer than he has to.

The Los Angeles Angels first baseman had a spooky encounter Sunday night when he says he felt a ghost while trying to sleep. Not that the creepy experience was nothing new for the Korean rookie.

"I've seen ghosts plenty of times," Choi said Monday through his interpreter, Jae Park, according to Aiden Gonzalez of MLB.com.

The 24-year-old recalled a moment after back surgery in 2011 where he was sure he was awoken by a nasty poltergeist on his chest.

"I was scared at first," Choi said, "so I didn't want to open my eyes. I dealt with that a lot more times after that."

The Pfister Hotel has had a haunting reputation in the past couple of years, with several MLB players saying they've witnessed paranormal activity during their stays. Choi says he's used to the so-called episodes at this point.

"I hope it's a girl," Choi joked. "Nah, nah. Just kidding, you know. … I've dealt with it so many times, I don't really care anymore."

Whoever the ghost was, it may have gotten into the first baseman's head. Choi was brought in as a pinch hitter against the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday, but couldn't muster a hit, stranding the bases loaded in his only at-bat.
