Extreme OF shift gives Giants' Duffy easy triple

Maybe the San Diego Padres should re-think their defensive strategy against Matt Duffy.

Manager Andy Green decided the San Francisco Giants third baseman wouldn't be pulling the ball, and shifted his outfielders way toward right field. Only problem was, Duffy immediately hit a grounder down the line and into the left-field corner for a triple. Given AT&T Park's spacious outfield dimensions, that meant Melvin Upton Jr. had a long, long run back to prevent an easy inside-the-park homer.

The Padres did have reason to be surprised by this turn of events: While Duffy's two home runs in 2016 have been pulled, he's excelled at spraying the ball to right early on this season.

Duffy came around to score on Brandon Belt's RBI double one batter later to tie the game at 4-4.
