Neymar says he wants to extend contract with Barcelona
Neymar says he's ready to commit his future to Barcelona.
His current contract with the La Liga winners runs until June 2018, but his father, Neymar Sr., doesn't want his son to sign any extension before they resolve an ongoing tax dispute.
Those issues apparently won't stand in the way of contract negotiations, which, according to the younger Neymar, have already begun.
"I still have some years left on my contract," Neymar said in an interview with Catalan TV3, as translated by ESPNFC. "I know my father speaks about my future. We are talking about extending the contract, because that is what I want to do."
Neymar's transfer fee has drawn scrutiny from Spanish investigators over the past couple of years. In September, a Sao Paulo court in September froze assets worth $47.6 million amid a separate case of alleged tax evasion.
Neither situation has yet to affect the Brazilian's performances on the pitch. He scored yet another brace for Barcelona in Saturday's 4-0 win over Real Sociedad, his fourth multi-goal match of the club campaign.
