Report: Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale patched up past differences

There is reportedly no longer any animosity between Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale at Real Madrid.

The two players, valued at a combined £165 million, have "spoken about things" over the last few days and have patched up past differences, looking to give Real Madrid a fresh identity in which they will both be central figures, according to Jose Felix Diaz of Marca.

Felix's report comes two days after Ronaldo celebrated a Champions League goal at Shakhtar Donetsk by embracing Bale, whose phenomenal run allowed the Portuguese virtuoso to score behind the Ukrainian club's goal-line.

President Florentino Perez apparently spoke to Ronaldo and Bale, among other players, after Real Madrid's humiliating defeat in El Clasico, and the pair "have taken the bull by the horns," acknowledging the focus is on the greater good of the club rather than who shines on the pitch.

Bale and Ronaldo fully understand that they need each other, in exactly the same way that the team needs them. Their relationship has been a rather distant one up until now. The former Spurs man keeps a low profile, and generally only mixes with Luka Modric, but in recent days Bale has been seen to be spending more time with CR7.

In October, manager Rafa Benitez denied there was a rift between Ronaldo and Bale, saying: "At Real Madrid, everything tends to get magnified, sometimes because of jealousy or to attack the club, and that surprises me. I always send the players text messages when they are with their national sides; there is no problem at all between them."
