It's all gone wrong for Manchester United this season.

The club sits in seventh place, 18 points behind league leaders Chelsea. Their Champions League campaign will likely come to an end when they meet German powerhouse Bayern Munich in the quarterfinals.

David Moyes is persona non grata at Old Trafford. The banner that reads 'Chosen One' with Moyes' face mocks Manchester United supporters who are incensed with what their club has become.

Sir Alex Ferguson is no longer immune to the criticism. Yes, Ferguson, he of the 13 league titles, five FA Cup's and two Champions League trophies.

The Guardian's Jamie Jackson reports Ferguson was verbally abused by United supporters during Manchester City's 3-0 win at Old Trafford on Tuesday.

Ferguson was Moyes' biggest backer during the search to find the legendary Scotsman's successor.

Clearly, United fans, spoiled by season's past, are beginning to blame Fergie for their current predicament.

That 'Chosen One' banner now requires protection by stewards before, during and after the game. What a difference a year makes.
