If you needed a reminder that European support pales in comparison to the atmosphere at South American grounds, this should do the trick.

On Sunday, supporters of Colombian club Independiente Medellin unfurled a banner that measured 32,000 square metres and engulfed all 45,000 people inside the Estadio Atanasio Girardot, moments before their side took on rivals Deportivo Cali.

The banner, which was unveiled as part of the club's 101st anniversary, is the largest to ever be unveiled at a football stadium, surpassing the previous record held by supporters of Uruguyan club Nacional, who assembled a banner measuring 30,000 square metres in 2013.

Here's a non-drone perspective of the unfurling, as well as other footage from the rest of the game.

Medellin went on to win the match 3-2 after scoring twice in the opening 10 minutes. The fixture also included some showboating from midfielder Elton Martins, who infuriated Cali players by carrying the ball on his shoulders towards the final whistle.
