  • Little trouble for the 2004 Wimbledon champion, as Sharapova needed only 65 minutes to get past the 23-year-old Hogenkamp.
  • Safarova has a tough task ahead of her with her upcoming opponent, unseeded American Sloane Stephens, who's yet to drop a set. The sixth-seeded Russian has not advanced past the fourth round in London since 2011.
  • Petkovic dropped her first four games of the tournament against Duque Marino after winning 6-0, 6-0 in the first round against American Shelby Rogers.
  • Venus Williams advances one day after pulling out of doubles competition with her sister, saying: "It's challenging to play in both events."

  • Wawrinka only needed an hour and 31 minutes to move on to the third round.
  • Raonic cruised, needing only 17 minutes to take the first set, but the 37-year-old Haas battled back to take the final two sets to tiebreaks. The seventh-seeded Canadian also hit a 145-mph serve to claim the third-fastest serve in Wimbledon history. ...
  • Reigning U.S. Open champ Cilic clinched his three-and-a-half-hour, five-set marathon after 80th-ranked Berankis double-faulted.
  • Goffin will advance to face 2006 Aussie Open finalist Marcos Baghdatis, who rallied from down two sets to beat John Millman.
  • A ball boy collapsed during the Isner-Ebden match and was carried off the court on a stretcher. Wimbledon organizers tweeted later that the boy "has been treated and is feeling much better."
  • The always vocal Kyrgios was at it again Wednesday, unleashing his anger at the chair umpire.

Fernando Verdasco defeats No. 32 Dominic Thiem 5-7, 4-6, 5-7, 6-3, 6-4
